Treatment & technology

Sclerotherapy is a non-invasive procedure that involves injecting saline or chemical solution into the varicose veins. This causes the vein to close or collapse and the vein is eventually broken down and discarded by the body. The blood then circulates only in the other, non-varicose veins. It remains the “gold standard” in treatment of visible diseased veins. This method is effective for treatment of spider veins and well as larger, distended veins. In most cases, regular activity may be resumed immediately, although it is recommended to wear compression stockings for 1 week after each treatment.
Learn More
Before beginning any sclerotherapy treatment, an appointment with one of our specialists* is required. This initial meeting will allow them to precisely identify the veins to be treated and to establish a safe and effective treatment plan for long-term results.
*Please note that, as with any medical consultation, fees for this appointment apply.

During your consultation, ultrasound is used to map the veins and discover the source of pressure causing the varicose veins. Often the source of the spider or varicose veins are too deep to see with the naked eye. This consultation stage allows for the development of a safe, accurate and effective treatment plan for lasting results. As with any medical consultation, current fees apply.
Before and after photos are an important step in the treatment process, as it allows for visualization of the evolution of your results over time.
Lasting 20 minutes, sclerotherapy treatment may give rise to a slight tingling or a feeling of heat during the session. This sensation disappears quickly after treatment. As the treatment involves injection into the veins, naturally some bruising should be anticipated. Bruising due to any cause on the legs generally resolves over 3 weeks, and patients should refrain from unprotected sun exposure until the bruises clear.

Follow-up and maintenance
At your initial consultation, the physician will determine how many treatments are required per leg.
The number of sclerotherapy treatments necessary depends on the extent of the vein disease and we are limited to the quantity of medication per visit. Closure of the affected veins can be visible within several days however treated veins tend to fade within a few weeks to several months.
Support stockings are recommended to promote healthy circulation in the lower limbs and prevent and minimize recurrence. Patients can return to most usual activities post treatment.
Contraindications
Sclerotherapy is contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as a known allergy to the sclerotic agent used. Special consideration is required in people with medical conditions that make them more vulnerable such as hypercoagulability (blood clotting), a history of a deep venous thrombosis or pulmonary embolism.

Frequently asked questions
Among the many benefits of dermaplaning are improved skin texture, elimination of peach fuzz, instant skin radiance, better absorption of topical skin care products and more even application of makeup.
Dermaplaning is suitable for all phototypes and skin types except extremely oily skin and patients with active acne outbreaks.
The session begins with a double cleanse adapted to the patient’s skin type. The skin is then sanitized with a solution before exfoliation begins with a sterile surgical blade. Once the exfoliation is complete, we proceed with the application of adapted and complementary products. Allow approximately 1 hour for a complete treatment.
The sensation is similar to shaving; you can feel the blade pass over your skin, but there is no pain.
The skin is generally brighter immediately after the procedure. The effects are optimal after a series of treatments.
Absolutely not. The procedure does not change the thickness, color, or growth rate of hair.
Dermaplaning can be performed every 4 to 6 weeks.
When performed by a professional, Dermaplaning is a low-risk procedure. Potential side effects may include increased skin sensitivity and slight redness. These symptoms usually subside within hours of treatment.
Exfoliation with Dermaplaning allows products to better penetrate the skin, which increases their effectiveness. It is an ideal treatment to prepare the skin to receive another treatment and can be combined with several of them. It is recommended, for example, before a SkinCeuticals Facial or photorejuvenation.
