What is it?
Did you know?
The changes, drying and chronic skin fragility specific to the hands are mainly due to the reduction in collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production.
What are the causes?
Skin aging can be attributed to several factors, most notably, these main ones:
The natural aging process
Over time, skin dries out, the natural production of collagen and elastin slows down and cell renewal decreases. The appearance of wrinkles, hollows and spots increases over the years and are more visible on the face, neck, décolleté and hands.
Sun exposure
Exposure to the sun, especially if not accompanied by UV protection, leads to an increase in melanin production, a decrease in collagen and elastin production, and clearly promotes dryness of the skin. Gradually, the skin’s structure changes, becomes thinner and the signs of skin aging such as wrinkles and spots become more visible – especially on the hands since they are exposed to UV rays on a daily basis.
Poor care habits
While it is very important to wash your hands several times a day to prevent the spread of bacteria, over washing your hands can destroy the skin’s protective hydrolipidic barrier. In addition, not wearing gloves in cold weather helps accelerate the aging of the skin as the cold accentuates the dryness of the skin.
How to prevent?
In order to limit any direct contact with household products, which may be particularly aggressive on the skin, it is strongly recommended to wear household or dishwashing gloves to protect the skin of the hands. In addition, it is important to use mild, neutral pH soap for hand washing to respect the skin’s natural protective barrier. Finally, the application of sunscreen – preferably mineral-based is essential. As with the face and the rest of the body, sunscreen applied to the hands will reduce the appearance of spots and wrinkles and effectively fight against sagging skin.
Like the face, hands need to be exfoliated once a week to eliminate dead cells and stimulate cell regeneration. In addition, it is essential to apply a moisturizing cream to the hands to nourish their protective hydrolipidic film.
How to treat?

Volumizing injections
The hyaluronic acid used in this type of injection is a synthesized formula of the molecule naturally present in the human body that contributes to the skin’s elasticity and whose reserves and production decrease with the years. This synthesized hyaluronic acid can absorb more than a thousand times its molecular weight in water! It works to prevent the loss of volume that occurs over the years and naturally restores skin volume leaving the skin of the face, neck, décolleté and hands deeply rehydrated and visibly plumped up.
Photorejuvenation
The pulsed light platforms chosen by Wellness Studio make it possible to correct pigment imperfections, such as spots. Sent by pulses, the light targets color contrasts under the skin in order to dry out and eliminate small blood vessels and visible brown or red spots.
